National History
Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. was founded on April 6, 1987, at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas by four outstanding women. These four women, Nellie Flores, Cynthia Garza, Irene Montoya and Melissa Montoya, wanted to create a sisterhood that was extraordinary. They wanted to promote leadership among Hispanic women at Texas Tech University with a strong foundation of service, Christianity and friendship. They incorporated the simple but very distinct principles of Unity, Honesty, Integrity and Leadership. Today Kappa Delta Chi has many chapters throughout the nation and accepts women of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Chapter History
The Alpha Omicron chapter was brought to the University of New Mexico by 9 charter members. We were officially recognized on May 27, 2007, at The University of New Mexico. Since then, we have received 4 and 5 star chapter awards from UNM, as well as, Best Chapter Representation at our yearly Regional Conference. Kappa Delta Chi's members have been recognized for service and academics. The Alpha Omicron chapter is very involved on UNM's campus and throughout community.
